It is important to be respectful to the local culture and residents - particularly native families who have lived and worked on the land here for centuries. In many ways, affluent newcomers have unintentionally out-priced and displaced many native families and their native culture. It is imperative that we all do our share to malama (care for) these people and the amazing Hawaiian culture that they work hard to perpetuate. After all, this is what attracted you and I to Hawaii in the first place. We must do what we can to preserve these families and their way of life.
